CPAP and Forest Fires
Forest Fire smoke put CPAP users at risk for smoke inhalation. Here are a few tricks to help you through this difficult time.
1. Use your CPAP nightly. All CPAP air is filtered and humidified making it safe to use.
2. Use an air purifier in your bedroom or build your own using a box fan and HEPA filter with good MERV rating.
3. Change your CPAP fine filter when dark, and wash your CPAP washable filter every morning while the fire smoke persists.
4. Wash your mask with simple soap and water every morning.
5. Avoid using your SoClean type Ozone generator while the fire smoke remains. Ozone is toxic and with homes sealed to outside air, I would prefer a lower ozone exposure.
6. If you feel short of breath or like wheezing, call for medical help. 911 for all emergencies.
7. Follow the smoke exposure in your area by checking Airnow.
